Are you using HP OfficeJet Pro 8000, OfficeJet Pro 8000 Wireless or OfficeJet Pro 8500 and experienced installing remanufactured HP 940XL ink cartridges in it which is not recognized by your printer? Well, this is normal especially if you’re installing compatible or remanufactured HP inkjet cartridges since all HP products are boot to recognize HP genuine supplies only. That’s why when you use alternative printer consumables; the printer will not recognize it and will not read the ink level as it supposed to be. To fix this, you can easily disable the “printing status” or “ink level” in your Printer Setting through your desktop to stop the notifications from pestering you so you can continue printing since the printer will still operate.

You can also ignore it but if you want your printer to read the right ink levels then it is prudent to reset the product instead. To do this, here are the following procedures from HP Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless Printer – A809n Support:

Note: Resetting your printer will also solve certain issues or errors when printing, scanning or faxing which includes: (1) the printer does not turn off, (2) the printer does not respond to any button presses and (3) you cannot close an error message or error code that displays on the printer control panel.

• Step 1 – Press the Power button to turn on the product.
• Step 2 – With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
• Step 3 – Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
• Step 4 – Wait at least 15 seconds.
• Step 5 – Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
• Step 6 – Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
• Step 7 – If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.

Once this is done, you can now check the ink levels of your printer to see if it’s reading the remanufactured ink cartridges properly. If it does, you can now start printing again. Remember, such problem can be fixed and you don’t have to stop using remanufactured HP ink cartridges thinking that it might break your printer’s component. Remanufactured HP ink cartridges are great alternative printer consumables especially if you want to save money and help the environment considered that these are basically recycled cartridges made to reduce the amount of virgin materials wasted in producing new cartridges.
